Content marketing is not new. It is a strategy that companies have been using for a while now, but it is expected to grow in popularity in the coming years. In fact, 78% of all Chief Marketing Officers consider custom content to be the future of their marketing efforts. We agree.

If good, quality content is so important then you want to be right there with the trend right? Of course you do, but how? How do you go about creating this great content and providing it to your potential clients?

Believe it or not, it’s easier then it looks. With the advent of mobile technologies it is easier now than ever to create content that will pique interest and grow your online presence in the process. Just look at the phone in your hand and imagine the possibilities.

We understand that creating good content is more than just a technological hurdle, it’s also a mental hurdle you need to get over too. After all, you didn’t get into selling cupcakes to become a video superstar. Instead of a grand content marketing strategy, start small.

Here are some simple things you can do to start dipping your toes into the content marketing pond.

1.) Tweet a picture of your products
2.) Write a Facebook post about your upcoming sales
3.) While a blog is a great way to build content, start small and create a new page on your website dedicated to your favorite things (relate them back to your business.)
4.) Take a “selfie” with your favorite product and email it to your database list
5.) Shoot a :30-second video of the most interesting things happening at your location today
6.) Write a review of a product you sell in your store and share it on your social networks
7.) Ask your clients to share why they shop with you or use your services – share on social networks

These ideas are not meant to be a replacement for a fully fleshed out content marketing strategy, but they are a great way to get started thinking about the types of things you need to be doing to generate quality content and ultimately drive more leads to your business.
